 ir of the Future in "The Future Remembered: The 1962 Seattle World's Fai
 r and Its Legacy."\n\nThe Century 21 Exposition\, better known as the Se
 attle World's Fair\, took place in 1962 from April 21 to Oct. 21. As the
  first major American world's fair after World War II\, it presented an 
 optimistic vision of a future improved through science and technology an
 d promoted Seattle to the world as a space-age city. Exhibits focused on
  industry\, commerce\, science and the future\, but also included fine a
 rts\, food and entertainment. Ten million people attended the fair\, and
  it left Seattle with many lasting legacies\, including the Space Needle
 \, the Monorail and the Seattle Center.

 xplore the memories\, memorabilia and myths of Seattle's 1962 World's Fa
 ir through a series of free community-wide workshops.  \n\nCo-hosted by 
 The Seattle Public Library\, King County Library System and the Seattle 
 Center Foundation\, this series of workshops and seminars will teach you
  the skills needed to discover\, document\, and distribute the fascinati
 ng histories of one of Seattle’s most influential events through the use
  of personal experiences and collections.\n\nIntroductory workshops revi
 ew the basic history of the Fair\, and introduce participants to the his
 torical research skills needed to explore Century 21 memories\, souvenir
 s and legacies. \n\nFollow-up seminars will guide you in developing a re
 search project and introduce you to other Century 21 enthusiasts\, with 
 the goal of creating a project that can be shared with and celebrated by
  the community at our closing summit\, scheduled for Saturday\, Septembe
 r 29\, 2012. Information on how to participate in the Remembering Centur
