			<x-trumba:customfield name="Full Description" id="3392" type="text">Seattle Art Museum Downtown presents the only United States stop for "Gauguin &amp; Polynesia: An Elusive Paradise," a landmark show highlighting the complex relationship between Paul Gauguin's work and the art and culture of Polynesia. 

SAM curator, McClusky, will discuss the works and their intertwined context at this preview lecture.

The exhibition includes about 60 of Gauguin's brilliantly-hued paintings, sculptures and works on paper, which are displayed alongside 60 major examples of Polynesian sculpture that fueled his search for the exotic. Organized by the Art Centre Basel, the show is comprised of works on loan from some of the world's most prestigious museums and private collections.</x-trumba:customfield>

			<x-trumba:customfield name="Full Description" id="3392" type="text">In the spirit of the 50th anniversary of Century 21, MOHAI invites you to explore the memories, memorabilia and myths of Seattle's 1962 World's Fair through a series of free community-wide workshops.  

Co-hosted by The Seattle Public Library, King County Library System and the Seattle Center Foundation, this series of workshops and seminars will teach you the skills needed to discover, document, and distribute the fascinating histories of one of Seattle’s most influential events through the use of personal experiences and collections.

Introductory workshops review the basic history of the Fair, and introduce participants to the historical research skills needed to explore Century 21 memories, souvenirs and legacies. 

Follow-up seminars will guide you in developing a research project and introduce you to other Century 21 enthusiasts, with the goal of creating a project that can be shared with and celebrated by the community at our closing summit, scheduled for Saturday, September 29, 2012. Information on how to participate in the Remembering Century 21 Summit will available in July 2012.
