DESCRIPTION:The Mind's Eye is an exhibit of Myron McGhee's photographs o
f Tibetan monks painting sand mandalas at Emory University in Atlanta\,
Georgia.\n\nWhile the monks focus their attention on the artistic elemen
ts of creating the sand mandala\, they also devote their minds to medita
tion for the healing of the earth. Observing their sacred practice\, our
eyes are drawn to the exquisite beauty of their art\, and our minds are
inspired by their religious devotion.\n\nThis collection of photographs
will be on exhibit at various venues on Emory's campus throughout the 2
011-2012 academic year. The exhibit is curated by Juana Clem McGhee and
made possible through generous support from the university and other org
anizations in the Atlanta area.\n \nTo view exhibits online\, go to http

DESCRIPTION:An interdisciplinary exploration of the impact of safe sanit
ation on human health by bringing Emory scientists who study environment
and health together with artists around a nexus of safe sanitation\n \n
Dialogue will be cultivated around artists’ and scientists’ response to
a collaborative agenda by the Center for Global Safe Water at Emory\, th
e Center for Creativity & Arts\, and the Office of Sustainability Initia
tives\, in which scientists and artists will create original artwork aro
und the core theme of water and safe sanitation.\n \nWe believe that thr
ough the discussion of art and the process of creating art\, and the dis
cussion of scientific evidence and the process of scientific inquiry\, t
hat it may be possible for all parties involved to gain a greater unders
tanding of the role of visual communication in engagement and empowermen
t for safe sanitation and health issues.\n\nCenter for Creativity & Arts
