pose : A pilgrimage across America by horse or horse and trailer to aler
t the public about the dire curcumstances our horses are in concerning h
orse slaughter .\nEvents can also be organized within a persons own dist
rict for those who cannot join the ride. \nThe ride begins now from to
wn to cities across America and is on going until horse slaughter is sto
pped in the USA and wild horse round-ups come to a halt until an indepen
dant evaluation of the number of wild horses on BLM public lands can be
verified. \nThere are two bills in Congress that would stop horse slaug
hter in the US\, SB 727 and HR 503\, the Equine Cruelty Prevention Act.
You can read this act for yourselves at tomas.gov\, type in the search b
ar S.727.\nThese bills do not prevent people from killing their own hors
es. It just prevents slaughter plants from re-opening because of the inh
erent cruelties that orginally shut them down four years ago.\nMany hors
e owners do not want their horses to go to slaughter when they sell them
but too many of them do and will continue to do so as long as people se
ll them at auctions and horse killers buy them. and this tragedy can now
be stopped.\nThe pilgrimage will converge \,ongoing to Washington DC wh
ere people and horses will alert our representatives that we want horse
slaughter stopped.\nCome join in on a great horse adventure!

DESCRIPTION:Well-known commentator\, columnist and ag advocate Trent Loo
s will address the Mid-America Alfalfa Expo & Conference on Tuesday\, Fe
 b. 7.\n“I’m going to talk about the sustainability of alfalfa production
but not from a yield per acre point of view\,” Loos said. “Instead\, I’
ll talk about how we can continue to do what farmers in the United State
s do better than anyone else in the world: convert natural resources int
o human consumable products that ultimately improve human lives.”\nLoos
said the challenges surrounding this effort have never been greater.\n“W
e have two choices\,” he said. “We can sit back and let the forces that
be continue to create hurdles\, or we can step up to the plate and be he
ard. The answer to the challenges lies in the person you look at in the
mirror.”\nLoos travels the country motivating and educating audiences on
issues related to animal agriculture and food production. He also recor
ds and produces radio reports that air on more than 100 stations across
the country and reach a listening audience of 4 million people. These ra
dio programs includes daily Loos Tales and Rural Route programming\, as
well as Dakota Trails & Tales\, Colorado Trails & Tales\, Loos Trails &
Tales and Illinois Truth be Told.\nRaised on a diversified farm near Qui
ncy\, IL\, Loos entered the hog business at a young age and has been inv
olved in livestock production ever since. He and his wife Kelli operate
a purebred Limousin and Angus herd while raising their three daughters o
n their ranch in central Nebraska.\nOther speakers include Al Dutcher\,
Nebraska climatologist\; Ron Hansen\, University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UN
 L) ag economics professor\; and Rick Rasby\, UNL cattle feeding expert.
\nOne of the most significant items on the agenda is the introduction of
the Alfalfa Valuation Analysis\, a powerful new approach to the standard
ization of alfalfa quality and value that has been developed by NAMA.\nR
egistration includes admission to all presentations and programs\, a Tue
sday afternoon reception\, dinner Tuesday evening\, admission to the lar
ge alfalfa industry tradeshow and the opportunity to bid in the fundrais
ing auction that takes place Tuesday afternoon. The auction features a w
ide range of items including seed\, harvesting equipment\, supplies and
other valuable products and services.\nRegistration is $10 per person in
advance (tickets must be purchased by Noon\, Feb. 6\, 2012) and $20 at
the door. Participants under the age of 18 are admitted at no charge. Re
gistration is available online at www.AlfalfaExpo.com.

dant evaluation of the number of wild horses on BLM public lands can be
