Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

On April 15, 1912, Titanic, the world's largest Ship, sank after colliding with an iceberg claiming more than 1,500 lives and subsequently altering the world's confidence in modern technology. Nearly 100 years later, TELUS World of Science will pay tribute to the tragedy which continues to resonate through Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, where almost 200 legendary artifacts conserved from the ship's debris field are showcased offering visitors a poignant look at this iconic ship and its passengers.

The Exhibition has been designed with a focus on the legendary RMS Titanic's compelling human stories as best told through the authentic artifacts recovered from the wreck site of Titanic and extensive room re-creations. Personal effects of passengers and crew, pieces of the Ship itself, like the Ship's whistle, even a small and delicate Canadian postage stamp will be featured-- these and many other authentic objects offer haunting, emotional connections to lives abruptly ended or forever altered.

The Canadian Birkebeiner started with only 100 skiers, and now features thousands of skiers reliving the legend of King Haakon Haakonson here in Canada. The Global Visions Film Festival (GVFF) is an annual, one of a kind, Edmonton based festival which celebrates the work of passionate, accomplished documentarians from Canada and around the world. Through the work of Canadian and international filmmakers, GVFF celebrates the passion of film and the diversity, joy, and responsibility of being a global citizen.

The festival has traditionally run over four days in November in Edmonton's Downtown Arts District. In 2012 we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of our festival! This special occasion also brings a change of season for the festival to Spring 2012. In addition to dozens of films we present public workshops and panel discussions with filmmakers, as well as our popular Youth Media Arts Day for young filmmakers.
