New Visions Gallery, located in the main lobby of Marshfield Clinic, 1000 North Oak Avenue

What is the true potential of the unbridled imagination? An exhibit of artwork by Spanish Catalan artist, Joan Miro (1893 – 1983), on display at New Visions Gallery beginning January 9, seeks to answer this question by taking visitors on a journey through the life and work of this prolific artist. Internationally acclaimed, his work is most closely categorized as surrealism, with its child-like forms and artistic translation of automatism. A public reception will be held Thursday, January 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the gallery, which is located in the main lobby of Marshfield Clinic. The reception will feature an art talk by local educator Cathy Lau. Spanish tapas and refreshments will be provided.

The works on display in New Visions Gallery include original lithographs from the Gallery’s permanent collection - the Robert & Barbara Bromberg Collection. Miro will also feature an original work on loan from the collection of Dr. Laura Coleman.

The work of Joan Miro can be viewed Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM at New Visions Gallery, located in the main lobby of Marshfield Clinic, 1000 North Oak Avenue. Admission is free thanks in part to donations from ART PARTNERS. Exhibit space and other support is donated by Marshfield Clinic.

Traditionally, Robert and Mary Wakely had a dinner party in February. It was an opportunity to share a good meal and conversation with their neighbors. People came from up and down the river to enjoy a time of merriment and music. The citizens of Point Basse re enact the Wakely’s
celebration with a grand dinner. The banquet consists of
ham and chicken meats, venison, vegetables, potatoes, bread, beverages,and Tom’s Bread Pudding is a traditional favorite dessert.
