Childbirth Education Classes (Session 1)
St. Luke’s Hospital at The Vintage (SLHV) continues to develop and expand the services provided to the community. The most recent addition occurs in women’s services with the beginning of our Childbirth Education classes for those starting a family or just adding a new addition. The classes have been developed to prepare mothers for their pregnancy and childbirth experience. The classes will discuss what is happening to her body, how the baby grows, nutrition, exercises and breathing techniques, what to expect in labor, and pain management options; we will also discuss postpartum care, including breastfeeding and newborn care.
The classes are available to the public and all classes will be taught by experienced labor and delivery, postpartum and NICU nurses employed at SLHV. This way patients will see familiar faces when they come in to deliver. The 1st series begins February 7th and will be every Tuesday for 4 weeks from 7pm to 930pm. Join St. Luke’s Hospital at The Vintage for a FREE seminar featuring board-certified cardiologist Ali Rizvi, MD, on women’s heart health and actions that can be taken to look after your heart.
Blood pressure and pulse screenings will be available for all attendees and those present will have the opportunity to sign up for a free Peripheral Arterial Disease screening.
Why PAD Matters?
PAD is a narrowing of the peripheral arteries, most commonly in the arteries of the pelvis and legs. PAD is similar to coronary artery disease (CAD) and carotid artery disease. All three of these conditions are caused by narrowed and blocked arteries in various critical regions of the body. Hardened arteries (or atherosclerosis) in the coronary artery region, restricts the blood supply to the heart muscle. Carotid artery disease refers to atherosclerosis in the arteries that supply blood to the brain.
