Bat Boy, the Musical

The Weekly World News 1992 story about Bat Boy, a half-boy, half-bat found living in a cave inspired writers Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming to write a stage adaptation. Bat Boy learns to speak from his adoptive family, yearns for acceptance and tries to join society, only to face hatred and violence from a town that fears him, and jealous rage from his foster father. The play deals with serious themes, but often punctures the most serious moments with slapstick, surrealism, camp-horror and irony. Price - Low: $14. Price - High: $16. Directed By: Michael P. Webb. February Food Film Fest

Come watch the film "Super Size Me" Director Morgan Spurlock takes a hilarious and often terrifying look at the effects of fast food on the human body, using himself as the proverbial guinea pig. For one month, Spurlock eats nothing but McDonald's fare. Spurlock offers a very genuine look into several controversial issues, and a touch of humor helps it go down easier than a vanilla milkshake. He examines the obesity dilemma in the US, problems in the United States public school system, and corporate greed and neglect. Unlike Michael Moore documentaries though - Spurlock achieves this w/o humiliating people, slanting perspectives, or acting obnoxious. Public is welcome and all films are free of charge.
