Bird Banding Demonstration at Wellfleet Bay

Mist nets will be set up on the property for the fall migration and managed by James Junda, licensed master bander and Master’s student at McGill University. "Fashion is in the Bag," thru Dec. 12

Museums Centerville Museum's 'Year of Fashion' exhibit series continues with the opening of the new exhibit, Fashion is in the Bag. The handbag, purse, reticule and clutch: they come in many forms and have had many modifications and transformations, but at the end of the day their function remains the same. Or does it? The purpose and style of the purse has changed significantly as the life styles and responsibilities of women have changed. Today the purse is one of the most important accessories in a woman's wardrobe. This exhibit examines this topic as it explores these beautifully fashionable yet functional objects. A woman is not defined by her purse, but a look at or into her handbag is a glimpse into her life. Adults $7; Seniors & Students $6; Children under 8 & Members free. 508-775-0331. Region: Mid Cape. Hoping to influence a senator in some personal business dealings, he soon gets advice suggesting that the seemingly dim-witted blonde will need a little polish to get ahead in D.C. society. Inside the Pages: Knitting Yarns with Ann Hood and others

Author Events Inside The Pages Series presents: Knitting Yarns: Writers On Knitting w/Ann Hood, Taylor Polites, Anne LeClaire, Elizabeth Strempek Shea & Elizabeth Searle. Why does knitting occupy a place in the hearts of so many writers? What’s so magical and transformative about yarn and needles? How does knitting help us get through life-changing events and inspire joy? In Knitting Yarns, twenty-seven writers tell stories about how knitting healed, challenged, or helped them to grow. Five of these wonderful authors - including Ann Hood - will be in the house this afternoon, sharing their stories and their experience contributing to this delightful book. “The impressive collection of writers here have contributed essays that celebrate knitting and knitters. They share their knitting triumphs and disasters as well as their life triumphs and disasters. . . . These essays will break your heart.
