Table For Five . . . Thousand!
What can you do with a few loaves of bread and fish? Quite a lot!!
This is the miracle described in all four of the Gospels of the New Testament in which Jesus directed his disciples to feed five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. And you can watch it performed in the musical Table for Five . . . Thousand! to be performed by the youth of Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue, Clive, Iowa on Saturday, February 11 at 4 and 5 p.m. and at 10 and 11 a.m. on Sunday, February 12.
Over sixty children will sing, dance and act out this musical, by Tom Long and Allen Pote, based on Matthew 14: 13-21, Mark 6:31-44, Luke 9:10-17 and John 6:5-15. The performance of the musical is an annual tradition for Soli Deo Musica, the fine arts ministry of Faith Lutheran Church and Faith Lutheran Church. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals. Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA helps people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body.
This program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal life or their "new normal." The program is conducted outside of medical facilities to emphasize that LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is about health, not disease.
