Make a date to come to Barr Lake in either Jan or Feb as they are excellent months for bald eagle viewing. In January, eagles begin courtship behavior including tumbling in mid-air, nest building, and staying close together. In mid-February and often coinciding with Valentine’s Day, bald eagles lay one to three eggs. The parents take turns incubating the eggs, so you are practically guaranteed to see an eagle on the nest. If all goes well, eaglets hatch in late March.

Event description: Enjoy an evening of bassoon music spanning three centuries including a performance of Jules Mouquet’s Ballade, Op. 34, the Paris Conservatory’s concours piece for 1912. Dr. Moody is professor of double reeds and theory at CSU. He has been principal bassoon and soloist with the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra and has performed recitals across the United States. In 2008 and 2010, he performed at the International Double Reed Society convention.
