THE SANTALAND DIARIES

Theatre & Dance Based on the true chronicles of humorist David Sedaris’ experience as Crumpet the Elf in Macy’s Santaland display, this cult classic riffs on a few of Sedaris’ truly odd encounters with his fellow man during the height of the holiday crunch. A breakout piece for the now best-selling author of When You Are Engulfed in Flames, Me Talk Pretty One Day, and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, this irreverent and hilarious tale recounts how the then-struggling Sedaris tries to enter into the holiday spirit as he deals with the humiliation of elf training, abusive customers, screaming children, and badly cast Santas. “The Santaland Diaries” is recommended for mature audiences. “A sardonic, merrily subversive tale...” —NY Newsday. “..quite possibly the thirty-one funniest pages of text published in the past quarter century…David Sedaris slays me.” —Seattle Weekly. “A subversively cynical, misanthropic wit!” —Time Out NY.
