Ages: 16 and Up. Classes will be held March 10th 9am - 5pm and March 11th 9am-3pm. Originating in China, this thousand year old needle art was refined and perfected in Japan for decorative objects and especially for kimono and obi. The embroideries are worked on silk and fabric held in a wooden frame. The stitching is done with silk and metal threads using Japanese needles and other tools. Carl Newman is certified by the Japanese Embroidery Center in Atlanta and has many years of teaching experience. Stitchers of all skill levels are welcome, but pre-registration is required.
