From the mid 1960s and for thirty years thereafter, Mendel designed album covers for some of America's most successful recording artists featuring the likes of Tony Bennett, Willie Nelson, Donovan, Gladys Knight, The NY Philharmonic and hundreds more in all musical genres. He has had a love affair with the Catskills for over seventy years and brings their beauty and charm to life in some of the vibrant paintings currently on exhibition here. Whether capturing on paper a rusting tractor, a scenic train ride or a towering oak, a lovely memory has been magically created. Mendel signs his paintings ZEPEL, memorializing a Swiss boy-doll he so much cherished as a very young child, but had to leave behind in Berlin Germany, when he with his parents fled the Nazi regime of Adolf Hitler in the Fall of 1938. From the mid 1960s and for thirty years thereafter, Mendel designed album covers for some of America's most successful recording artists featuring the likes of Tony Bennett, Willie Nelson, Donovan, Gladys Knight, The NY Philharmonic and hundreds more in all musical genres. "Serenade Orchestra" performs the social music of 18th & 19th century Vienna

Community Natural horns will be played by R.J. Kelley and Alexandra Cook, blending with the soaring violins of Krista Bennion Feeney and Keats Dieffenbach, Jessica Troy, viola, and John Feeney, bass. “This configuration of instruments was the most popular small orchestra for playing the social music of eighteenth and nineteenth century Vienna. It specializes in the divertimenti, cassations, marches, waltzes and, of course, serenades that were such an integral part of the vibrant music making from Mozart’s day and beyond. We use the same historical instruments that were used to play this music in old Vienna, which help to imbue it with warmth and intimacy of expression.” Program includes: Mozart's rarely heard masterpiece the Divertimento K. 287 "Lodron Night Music" for two violins, viola, bass and two horns, Haydn String Quartet Op. 9 No. 4 for two violins, viola and bass (this may be the first time this piece has been heard in this country with the instrumentation Haydn wrote it for) Strauss’ the Beautiful Blue… Region: Southern Orange.
