Run the Runway 5K Run, Walk and Festival

Fundraising Events Run at 9 a.m. or Walk at 9:30 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Orange Library Association (OLA) and the County of Orange in conjunction with OLA’s OrangeREADS Unbroken, a countywide read project taking place at all 17 public libraries in Orange County. Runners and walkers can register online or print registration forms at www.runtheocrunway.org. Registration fee and other information can also be found on the Web site. Nonprofit organizations are encouraged to participate as festival vendors. For vendor forms, visit the Web site at www.runtheocrunway.org. Food vendors may also participate for a $50 per space fee. Fundraising Events Thanksgiving Food Drive, the Newburgh Free Library will offer a Food for Fines program, where Thanksgiving food items can be donated to save on overdue fines. From Nov. 3-24, library users can bring their overdue books, CDs, DVDs and other items, along with some food items to the Main Library at 124 Grand St. or the Town Branch at the Newburgh Mall. For each can or package of food that is donated, the fine will be waived on one overdue item. There’s no limit on the number of overdue books and canned goods that can be brought in. Fall Transfer Fair

More than 70 different colleges and universities will be represented when SUNY Orange conducts its annual Fall Transfer Fair, slated for Wednesday, Nov. 5 on the College’s Middletown campus and Thursday, Nov. 6 on the Newburgh campus. Colleges from throughout the state of New York, as well as the tri-state area and portions of New England, will have representatives on hand from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on one or both days to discuss the transfer options available to SUNY Orange students and members of the community. Representatives from 68 colleges and universities will be in the Shepard Student Center Fireplace Lounge on Wednesday with 44 representatives set to attend the Newburgh event in Kaplan Hall on Thursday.
