Stars & Stripes: An American Story

We pledge allegiance to it, we parade it, and we display it on occasions both solemn and celebratory. The American flag represents the nation and its people, patriotism, and pride, even during times of war and strife. The Senator John Heinz History Center’s major exhibition, Stars & Stripes: An American Story, sponsored by BNY Mellon, details the stories of the people behind the more than 200 year history of our nation’s most enduring symbol.
The 7,000 square foot exhibit was developed by History Center museum staff in conjunction with Dr. Peter Keim and historians including Marc Leepson. Stars & Stripes: An American Story includes objects, images, and archival materials from the History Center’s collections, as well as items on loan from the Smithsonian Institution, The Warhol Museum, The National Gallery of Art, and private collectors.

The American flag represents the nation and its people, patriotism, and pride, even during times of war and strife. The Senator John Heinz History Center’s major exhibition, Stars & Stripes: An American Story, sponsored by BNY Mellon, details the stories of the people behind the more than 200 year history of our nation’s most enduring symbol.
The 7,000 square foot exhibit was developed by History Center museum staff in conjunction with Dr. Peter Keim and historians including Marc Leepson. Stars & Stripes: An American Story includes objects, images, and archival materials from the History Center’s collections, as well as items on loan from the Smithsonian Institution, The Warhol Museum, The National Gallery of Art, and private collectors.

Core Ensemble Performs "Ain't I a Woman"

The Core Ensemble, a music theatre troupe, will perform “Ain’t I a Woman” by Kim Hines at Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) on February 13 at 7:30 PM in the Olin Fine Arts Center. “Ain’t I a Woman” celebrates the lives and times of four influential and significant African American Women: ex-slave and abolitionist Sojourner Truth, novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, folk artist Clementine Hunter and civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer. The Core Ensemble specializes in Chamber Music Theater, which is a type of performance where one actor or actress portrays multiple characters while interacting with an onstage musical trio.

We pledge allegiance to it, we parade it, and we display it on occasions both solemn and celebratory. The American flag represents the nation and its people, patriotism, and pride, even during times of war and strife. The Senator John Heinz History Center’s major exhibition, Stars & Stripes: An American Story, sponsored by BNY Mellon, details the stories of the people behind the more than 200 year history of our nation’s most enduring symbol.
The 7,000 square foot exhibit was developed by History Center museum staff in conjunction with Dr. Peter Keim and historians including Marc Leepson. Stars & Stripes: An American Story includes objects, images, and archival materials from the History Center’s collections, as well as items on loan from the Smithsonian Institution, The Warhol Museum, The National Gallery of Art, and private collectors.

These classes provide a well-rounded yoga practice of pranayama (breathing exercises) along with a wide range of standing, seated, and reclining poses as well as simple inversions and pose flow sequencing. The Senator John Heinz History Center’s major exhibition, Stars & Stripes: An American Story, sponsored by BNY Mellon, details the stories of the people behind the more than 200 year history of our nation’s most enduring symbol.
The 7,000 square foot exhibit was developed by History Center museum staff in conjunction with Dr. Peter Keim and historians including Marc Leepson. Stars & Stripes: An American Story includes objects, images, and archival materials from the History Center’s collections, as well as items on loan from the Smithsonian Institution, The Warhol Museum, The National Gallery of Art, and private collectors.

We pledge allegiance to it, we parade it, and we display it on occasions both solemn and celebratory. The American flag represents the nation and its people, patriotism, and pride, even during times of war and strife. The Senator John Heinz History Center’s major exhibition, Stars & Stripes: An American Story, sponsored by BNY Mellon, details the stories of the people behind the more than 200 year history of our nation’s most enduring symbol.
The 7,000 square foot exhibit was developed by History Center museum staff in conjunction with Dr. Peter Keim and historians including Marc Leepson. Stars & Stripes: An American Story includes objects, images, and archival materials from the History Center’s collections, as well as items on loan from the Smithsonian Institution, The Warhol Museum, The National Gallery of Art, and private collectors.

Penn State's 6th Annual President's Concert

The Penn State Alumni Association will be presenting the Sixth Annual President’s Concert. The Concert will feature Penn State Glee Club, Opera Theatre and the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Meghan Hilker, a Vocal Performance major, will be featured, reprising her role as Laurie, from the Opera, “The Tender Land” written by Aaron Copeland. Meghan is a senior and will graduate in May of 2012 with plans to attend graduate school. She is a 2008 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School.
