Adult Education for Epiphany

Special Events Adult Education Program for Epiphany: ‘Mother & Maiden, Warriors & Witnesses – Another Look at Women in Scripture.’ Beginning January 11 and continuing for the six weeks of Epiphany, Bill Tompson and Canon Hendrick team-teach a series of classes on women in scripture. These classes are presented on both Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. Topics include women in culture, traditional and non-traditional roles for women, Jesus and the women of the gospels and the role of women leaders in the early church. Each class will include discussion about specific women as found in the text. Come join us on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00 or Thursday mornings from 10:15-11:45. Lambda Group meeting

Special Events The next meeting of the Lambda Group will take place in the Cathedral Library on Saturday February 11 from 5 - 7pm. Group member Philip Cacouris will lead a bilingual Bible study, using the African Bible Study model, which encourages personal introspection rather than analysis. Everyone is welcome to join us -- no need to RSVP, just show up at the back door of the Cathedral parish house that opens onto the alley behind the Cathedral. If no one answers your knock, ring the bell. The Lambda Group is a bilingual theological discussion group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, and their families and friends. Special Events “Remembering Absalom Jones.” In this forum, the Reverend Dr. Sandye Wilson, Rector of the Episcopal Church of St Andrew & Holy Communion in South Orange, NJ, and former president of the Union of Black Episcopalians, will explore the extraordinary life and legacy of Absalom Jones. Born a slave, Absalom Jones became a free man, a prominent abolitionist and the first black man ordained in the Episcopal Church.
