R&D Tax Credit Seminar
Community Event
Is your company eligible to claim R&D tax credits?
Activities that your engineering and technical staff may regard as routine could actually qualify as experimental development.
This seminar will provide specifics of the R&D Tax Credit program and help attendees understand how they can use the program to reduce both their Federal and State tax liability.
The types of R&D costs and activities that are eligible will be outlined and recent changes to the tax code will be reviewed.
Of interest to companies currently in an NOL position, the Federal R&D tax credit has a carry forward of up to 20 years and RI State program 7 years.
We will also be reviewing other incentive programs related to R&D in Rhode Island.
Bring your questions about R&D tax credits - an expert from TMG will be here to answer them.

The 6th Annual Boatbuilders' Show on Cape Cod
Community Event
“The best little boat show in the Northeast,” returns February 10-12 to the Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis. See a large selection of unique, custom and limited-production boats in both wood and fiberglass. Discover more than 50 exhibitors and a large variety of custom-built sail and powerboats on display under one roof. You will not find boats like this at the major metropolitan boat shows. Boat lovers looking for the kind of craftsmanship and unique design not found in off-the-rack production boats have few opportunities like this to go on board and compare workmanship and features from a variety of builders. Very much like the Maine Boatbuilders' Show when it started years ago, this is an opportunity for smaller builders to show off their craft in a larger venue, some for the first time outside of their own shops. Whether you are shopping, just looking, or just looking for a taste of summer, The Boatbuilders' Show on Cape Cod promises a unique boating experience with accessories on display an…

'Rockwell's America' Named London's Best Art Exhibition for 2011
Community Event
The exhibition showcases Rockwell’s accomplished technique while asserting his position as a great American artist. Rockwell was a storyteller, painting scenes that were folksy, often humorous and topical, but compelling in their message and sophisticated in his unique style. These iconic images continue to resonate with new audiences in the 21st century. Rockwell's portrayal of "an America which was democratic, freedom-loving, egalitarian, enterprising, and dynamic... sure of itself and its aim" and that "believed in its destiny” holds great appeal to modern audiences.
The exhibition is presently viewable at its home setting in Newport, during the NMAI's winter hours, Fridays 2pm to 5pm with a guided tour at 3pm, and for group and VIP tours by advance reservation. Additionally, as part of Newport's Winter Festival, the exhibition is viewable on February 17, 18, 19, and 24, from 11am to 5pm.

Jellies: The Ocean in Motion
Community Event
Immerse yourself in a world of jellies. From the outside, this new exhibit at Mystic Aquarium resembles a 20-foot-tall sea nettle floating on water. Under its dome, special lighting showcases the fascinating features of six very different jelly species, from moon jellies, often spotted in Long Island Sound, to unusual upside-down jellies and comb jellies, which look like they have electrical currents running through them. Guests can also see how moon jelly polyps are being cultured right at the aquarium. Trickling water from a two-sided water wall inside the exhibit adds to the experience. The wall, sponsored by Aquarion Water Company, features streams of water running over hand-blown glass fish and jellies created by renowned local artist Jeffery P’an of Prescient Studios in Stonington.
