The Center for Wooden Boats - South Lake Union
Storytime aboard the Arthur Foss (a 100-year-old tug boat) features stories about boats, kids and the sea. Geared for ages two through five, but also fun for adults! After stories, there is time to explore the boat. This is an indoor/outdoor activity, please dress accordingly.

The Center for Wooden Boats - South Lake Union
Our Cast Off! program allows visitors the chance to sail in classic boats.
The boats we use include: Admirable, a Bristol Bay Gillnetter, Amie, a Friendship sloop, Colleen Wagner, an Egret Sharpie, our long-boat Discovery, our New Haven Sharpie Betsy D, or a visiting classic.
Before and after your sail take a walk on the docks and discover the boats. Watch the volunteer crews rigging the boats. They’ll be happy to answer any question you might have, and you may even have a chance to help with the rigging!
We sail rain or shine, but wind conditions may keep us at the dock. Reservations are taken day-of-sail only at the CWB front desk. This is a popular activity so please arrive early to reserve a spot, we open at 10am. Rides are always at 2pm, and sometimes also at 3pm.

Third Friday Speaker Series: CHARLOTTE: A Wooden Boat Story
The Center for Wooden Boats - South Lake Union
CWB's February talk will in fact be a Third Friday Film Night, courtesy of Antidote Films. DVD copies of the film will be available at the event.
CHARLOTTE is a film about an extraordinary boatyard, the Gannon & Benjamin Marine Railway, located on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Ross Gannon and Nat Benjamin established the boatyard in 1980 with the purpose of designing, building, and maintaining traditionally built wooden boats, and in the process they transformed Vineyard Haven harbor into a mecca for wooden boat owners and enthusiasts. After a long career of designing and constructing boats for others, Nat embarks on building a 50 foot gaff rigged schooner for use by his family and friends — her name is Charlotte. Through close observation of the everyday activities of the boatyard, the film emerges as a meditation on tradition, craftsmanship, family, community, our relationship to nature, and love of the sea.

The boats we use include: Admirable, a Bristol Bay Gillnetter, Amie, a Friendship sloop, Colleen Wagner, an Egret Sharpie, our long-boat Discovery, our New Haven Sharpie Betsy D, or a visiting classic.
Before and after your sail take a walk on the docks and discover the boats. Watch the volunteer crews rigging the boats. They’ll be happy to answer any question you might have, and you may even have a chance to help with the rigging!
We sail rain or shine, but wind conditions may keep us at the dock. Reservations are taken day-of-sail only at the CWB front desk. This is a popular activity so please arrive early to reserve a spot, we open at 10am. Rides are always at 2pm, and sometimes also at 3pm.

Our Cast Off! program allows visitors the chance to sail in classic boats.
The boats we use include: Admirable, a Bristol Bay Gillnetter, Amie, a Friendship sloop, Colleen Wagner, an Egret Sharpie, our long-boat Discovery, our New Haven Sharpie Betsy D, or a visiting classic.
Before and after your sail take a walk on the docks and discover the boats. Watch the volunteer crews rigging the boats. They’ll be happy to answer any question you might have, and you may even have a chance to help with the rigging!
We sail rain or shine, but wind conditions may keep us at the dock. Reservations are taken day-of-sail only at the CWB front desk. This is a popular activity so please arrive early to reserve a spot, we open at 10am. Rides are always at 2pm, and sometimes also at 3pm.

Storytime aboard the Arthur Foss (a 100-year-old tug boat) features stories about boats, kids and the sea. Geared for ages two through five, but also fun for adults! After stories, there is time to explore the boat. This is an indoor/outdoor activity, please dress accordingly.

The R-Class, Pirate, Model Fleet at CWB is a 39” free-sailing pond boat designed by Seattle yacht designer, Ted Geary. This design was built in Seattle and Los Angeles public schools in the 1920’s. For the last twelve years, CWB has built over 100 of these model boats in Seattle Public Schools. Learn more and view the full size yacht, Pirate, built in 1926 on exhibit at The Center for Wooden Boats. This is a 45-50 minute tour of the Lake Union floating homes, a peek at Dale Chihuly's studio, Gas Works Park and the Sleepless in Seattle houseboat. The tour includes a humorous narration of old Seattle and some funky background music. Adults $11, Seniors $10, Kids 5-13 $7, under 5 $2. Pets OK. Walk-on only, tickets available on boarding, cash or check only. Ice cream treats, coffee, hot chocolate and soft drinks, $2 to $4.

Our Cast Off! program allows visitors the chance to sail in classic boats.
The boats we use include: Admirable, a Bristol Bay Gillnetter, Amie, a Friendship sloop, Colleen Wagner, an Egret Sharpie, our long-boat Discovery, our New Haven Sharpie Betsy D, or a visiting classic.
Before and after your sail take a walk on the docks and discover the boats. Watch the volunteer crews rigging the boats. They’ll be happy to answer any question you might have, and you may even have a chance to help with the rigging!
We sail rain or shine, but wind conditions may keep us at the dock. Reservations are taken day-of-sail only at the CWB front desk. This is a popular activity so please arrive early to reserve a spot, we open at 10am. Rides are always at 2pm, and sometimes also at 3pm.
