Families of college-bound students may be surprised to learn that the
out-of-pocket expense of sending their children to school will cost twice as much as tuition alone. Or that attending private colleges could save them thousands of dollars. Summit Credit Union is teaming up with Legacy College Funding to bring these and other college financial planning myths to light with two workshops: “College Planning Relief” and “College Funding and FAFSA” .
The College Planning Relief workshop will be held on Thurs. Feb. 2nd from 7–8 pm at the Waunakee Summit Credit Union located at 304 E. Main St. in Waunakee. Free Women's Financial Seminar
Being a financially savvy woman involves taking charge of your finances and making decisions that have important financial implications. To help women gain the financial knowledge they need and become successful planners, Summit Credit Union is holding two free seminars entitled, “Spend Less, Save More, Enjoy Life: Financial Tips for Women in Today’s Economy.”

Bumble bees are generally the first pollinators out in the morning and the last to leave a field in the evening. Their diligent work is important for many agricultural crops and is essential for certain crops such as cranberries and blueberries. Bumble bees also play an extremely valuable role in wildflower pollination. Unfortunately, factors such as habitat loss and introduced pathogens threaten bumble bees and the services they provide. In recent years, several species in Wisconsin have undergone severe declines. Losses of bumble bees can have far ranging economic and ecological impacts. Your child has the day off of school, now what? Bring them to the Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) for a day full of adventure and learning! On Friday, February 24, ALNC will offer two Vacation Day sessions appropriate for ages 5-12 and a special lunch bunch option to keep your youngster engaged all day long.
As March approaches, weather can be very calm (like a lamb) or it can be strong (like a lion), so it’s the perfect time to delve into learning about Wisconsin’s wacky weather. Join us as we record the daily weather conditions and learn what drives our weather. We’ll model how weather works by making clouds and tornados, study and enjoy the wind and sky, and explore the forces behind severe weather, like hurricanes and tsunamis and play some wacky weather games.

Your child has the day off of school, now what? Bring them to the Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) for a day full of adventure and learning! On Friday, February 24, ALNC will offer two Vacation Day sessions appropriate for ages 5-12 and a special lunch bunch option to keep your youngster engaged all day long.
Phenology is Phun! Aldo Leopold once wrote, “The months of the year, from January up to June are a geometric progression in the abundance of distractions.” We’ll learn all about seasonal changes, what to expect, and how to record and track our observations. Participants will leave with their own phenology list of things to look for and record as spring approaches. We’ll have many adventures as we trample the trails with magnifying lenses, binoculars and notebooks, in search of spring robins and even try to predict the “ice-out” day on ALNC’s pond.

To help women gain the financial knowledge they need and become successful planners, Summit Credit Union is holding two free seminars entitled, “Spend Less, Save More, Enjoy Life: Financial Tips for Women in Today’s Economy.”

AUsome Adult Group-(Support Group for Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder)
This group of adults (18 and over) is comprised mostly of individuals diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum but is welcoming of anyone who feels he/she might have an autism spectrum disorder. The group meets to discuss life issues on the spectrum and support one another in bringing any pertinent topics to the open meeting format. Our group is affiliated with the Autism Society of Greater Madison.

Bring your family to celebrate spring at MAPLE SYRUP FEST -- a family-style festival at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center!
This year's Maple Syrup Fest will feature ten stations set throughout the nature center grounds that will lead visitors, at their own pace, through the history of maple syruping and related craft and activities. Naturalists will tap the maple trees on the nature center grounds and collect sap in buckets to make the syrup. See the sap boil over a roaring fire as it concentrates into "liquid gold". When the sap is boiled, the sap's naturally occurring water evaporates as steam, leaving the sap and its sweetness to concentrate into maple syrup.
